Understanding Refugee Narratives: Refugee Interview & Interpretation Methodology

  • Date: January 11th, Thursday, 2024, 15:00 – 18:00
  • Location: Room 304, SNUAC (Bldg. 101)

SNUAC Center for Eurasian and Central Asian Studies has been selected as part of the National Research Foundation’s research institute support program, and has started research with the subject “A Study on Eurasian Refugees as Migrants Crossing Borders: The multifaceted changes and influences of migration dynamics” since September 2023. Through educational programs, the research team seeks to contribute to our society’s development as one that respects diversity beyond the prejudice, discrimination and hatred against refugees and migrants.

The research team has invited Yu-hyeon Oh and Jae-yoon Park (CEO of Homointer) for a workshop consisting of two lectures. Homointer has been providing training for interpreting public services that combines intercultural philosophy and psychoemotional aspects, for “communication that excludes nobody”. If our words and actions could be connected, we would be able to take a step further toward “a society that respects other cultures and allows differences to become prosperity”.  The subject of the first workshop is “Understanding Refugee Narratives: Refugee Interview & Interpretation Methodology”, and the second subject is “Researching on Trauma Site: Protecting Research Participants and Researchers”.

This program is open to SNU community and the public. This workshop is provided to 15 participants on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please RSVP if you are interested. Thank you.
