아시아연구소는 한국사회가 빠르게 변화함에 따라 관심이 증대하고 있는 현대 한국학 강의를 해외 수요자에게 제공하기 위해 한국국제교류재단(Korea Foundation)의 지원으로 2011년부터 국제 한국학강의를 개설, 운영해오고 있다. 아시아연구소는 인터넷을 이용한 해외 실시간 화상강의의 새로운 교육 모델을 찾기 위해 다양한 실험적 강의를 개설하며, 지난 12년간 아시아와 유럽 13개국 22개 대학에 3,875명의 수강생을 대상으로 142개의 정규강좌를 운영해왔다(2023년 2월 기준).
아시아연구소는 e-School Program을 통해, 각 지역 및 국가별 최우수 대학을 파트너로 선정하여 교육과 연구, 그리고 다양한 형태의 국제교류를 결합하며 지속 가능한 새로운 교육 모델을 만들어가고 있다. 2023년 현재 아시아연구소의 e-School Program에는 튀빙겐대(독일), 보르도-몽테뉴대(프랑스), 하노이국립인문사회대, 호치민국립인문사회대(베트남), 필리핀국립대(필리핀), 이르쿠츠크국립대, 톰스크대(러시아), 몽골국립대(몽골), 크라이스트대(인도)가 참여하고 있다.
또한 e-School Program은 2016년부터 한국국제교류재단의 지원과 서울대 국제협력본부와의 협력으로 ‘KF Global e-School Fellowship Program’을 진행하여, 해외 우수 수강생을 서울대학교 국제여름학교(SNU International Summer Program)에 초청하고 있다. 5주간의 프로그램 참여자들에게는 왕복 항공료, 국제여름학교 등록비 및 학비, 기숙사비가 지원되고, 서울 방문 기간에는 아시아연구소 동아리 및 연구연수생 학생들과 교류할 수 있는 자리를 통해, 한국에 대한 이해를 심화할 수 있는 기회를 제공하고 있다.
앞으로 아시아연구소는 한국사회에 관심을 갖고 있는 해외 우수대학 학생들을 대상으로 한 e-School Program을 보다 폭넓은 차원의 글로벌 한국학 프로그램 발전시켜갈 계획이다.
