1.About SNUAC
Since its inauguration in 2009, SNUAC has developed into a core institution in Asian studies in Korea by organizing academic activities, building networks, and cultivating future experts. Now, SNUAC is making its advancements to become a global hub in Asian studies by conducting research integrating regions and themes, fostering scholarly exchanges between experts, and systematically accumulating and disseminating research data.

2. About SNUAC Research Grants for Asian Studies
The SNUAC Research Grants for Asian Studies program has its emphasis on the research, international exchange, and human resources development programs that will lead the field of Asian studies. For 2018, the SNUAC Research Grants include SNUAC Series in Asian Studies, SNUAC Dissertation Writing Fellowship, and SNUAC Dissertation Award.

 

[SNUAC Dissertation Award]

Purpose
The SNUAC Dissertation Award supports rising researchers conducting research in diverse fields in Asia with the goal to facilitate research by the next-generation researchers.

Eligibility & Award Information
1) Eligibility
– The applicant must have written the dissertation (Master’s/Doctoral) on the field of Asian studies integrating regions and themes at a domestic university or research institution
– The applicant must have submitted their dissertation for graduation by January 2017 (August 2018 degree recipients are also eligible)

2) Award Information
– Two Master’s and two Doctoral dissertations will be selected
– The Master’s Award recipient will each receive one million KRW
– The Doctoral Award recipient will each receive three million KRW
– Support is provided for book publication of the doctoral dissertation

Application Procedures
1) Application Period: 10th July ~ 17th August, 2018
2) Screening Period: 20th August ~ 21st September, 2018
– The SNUAC research committee will evaluate the applications via a 2-stage process (Stage1 for suitability & Stage 2 for expert evaluation)
3) Announcement of the Recipients: Expected at the end of September 2018
4) Award Ceremony: Expected in mid-October 2018

– One copy of the dissertation abstract (max. A4 5 pages)
– One copy of the dissertation and the pdf file

– Submission Method: The applicant must send a hard copy of the application form via mail and the file version of the application via e-mail to SNUAC Department of Academic Research
