Urbanization and the capitalist production of space have not only transformed the physical environment of cities but also reshaped the ways in which people relate to the places they inhabit, giving rise to various forms of alienation. This event aims to examine the concept of urban alienation and its concrete manifestations in Korean society from the perspective of critical geography, while exploring both the processes through which places become sites of loss, exclusion, and conflict and the new possibilities that emerge within them. By understanding the city not simply as an object of development and management, but as a place where life and relationships, memory and politics intersect, the event further seeks to consider the significance of a critical theory of place for fostering a more just and democratic urban transformation.
