International Academic Symposium on the History of the Qin and Han Dynasties

  • Date: August 3rd-4th, Monday-Tuesday, 2026
  • Location: Room 302, Bldg. 4 / Online via Zoom

This academic event was organized to bring together scholars of Qin and Han history from Korea, Taiwan, and China to examine the history and society of the Qin and Han periods from multiple perspectives, drawing on recently released excavated bamboo and wooden manuscripts. These manuscripts constitute a vital body of primary sources, offering concrete insights into the legal, administrative, socioeconomic, and everyday life of the period that are difficult to recover from transmitted texts alone. Their study therefore requires sustained scholarly attention and collaborative research across East Asia. The event aims to explore new possibilities in the study of Qin and Han history by sharing the latest research findings from each country and by comparing and discussing diverse perspectives and interpretations of the same materials and subjects. Beyond academic presentations and discussions, it also sought to establish a foundation for sustained exchange among researchers and to build an academic network that could facilitate future collaborative research on excavated materials and broader international scholarly cooperation.
