The Refugee Research Network’s 2026 Refugee Forum marks the 75th anniversary of the Refugee Convention and aims to create a platform for dialogue among diverse stakeholders in Korea—including government officials, academics, civil society organizations, and refugees themselves. Through these discussions, the forum seeks to reexamine the contemporary significance of the Refugee Convention and generate practical recommendations for strengthening Korea’s refugee protection and solutions framework.

In particular, the forum will focus on five priority areas drawn from the UNHCR’s “Ten Actions and Core Questions for Refugee Protection and Solutions” that are especially relevant to the Korean context: strengthening refugee status determination procedures (Action 2); expanding resettlement and complementary pathways (Action 6); reinforcing inclusive national systems (Action 7) and promoting local integration (Action 9); and enhancing the meaningful participation of refugees (Action 10). Through these themes, participants will explore directions for policy development and opportunities for cross-sector collaboration.
