On Friday, June 19, 2026, a book talk titled “Asking About the Past and Present of Research-Intensive Universities” will be held at the Korean Publishers Association in Hapjeong. The event is co-hosted by the Center for Asian Urban Societies at SNUAC, the Researchers’ House for Knowledge Commons, and Ppalgansogeum, and is organized in the form of a collaborative forum bringing together humanities and social science researchers and publishers. The lecture and book talk on university reform will be led by Professor Jongsik Lee of KAIST, who supervised the Korean editions of Empire of Intellect and How MIT Became MIT. The discussion session will be moderated by Professor Ki-Myoung Kim of Sungkonghoe University, focusing on the public role and responsibility of universities, possible directions for institutional innovation, and models for sustainable coexistence among researchers. The event will be hosted by Dr. Seoungwon Lee of the CAUS.
