Russia’s Arctic region has attracted growing international political and economic attention due to its abundant natural resources and the strategic significance of the Northern Sea Route (NSR). Yet the everyday lives and socioeconomic realities of local residents have remained relatively underexamined. This event aims to comparatively explore the industrial structures, demographic changes, living conditions, infrastructure, and resource development practices of the nine federal subjects that make up the Russian Arctic zone, while examining how Arctic development is affecting the lives of local communities.
