Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, Central Asia has emerged as a key strategic space where energy, supply chains, logistics, and security intersect. In response, surrounding major powers—including Russia, China, the United States, the EU, and Türkiye—have each sought to expand their influence in the region through differing approaches. This seminar aims to reassess the strategic significance of Central Asia within the changing Eurasian order by comparatively analyzing these powers’ policies toward the region. In particular, it will comprehensively examine a range of approaches, including economic cooperation, security cooperation, connectivity strategies, and minilateral frameworks, while also exploring the strategic responses of Central Asian states and the possibilities for expanding their diplomatic autonomy.
