This lecture examines the historical and cultural background behind the sudden prominence of Arctic space in Russian cinema beginning in the early 2010s. It also traces the dominant images of the Arctic that have appeared on Russian screens up to the most recent works of 2026, analyzing their meanings through key films across a range of genres.
