[News] Research Fellow Dr. Yilsoon Paek Honored with the Seokcheon Academic Award

On December 5, Dr. Yilsoon Paek, Research Fellow at the Center for Asian Urban Societies at SNUAC, received the Seokcheon Academic Award from the Korean Society for Cultural and Historical Geography. The Seokcheon Academic Award was established in September 2001 by the Korean Society for Cultural and Historical Geography in honor of the late Dr. Lee Chan (pen name Seokcheon). The award aims to encourage the research motivation of emerging scholars who will lead the development of cultural geography and historical geography. This prestigious award is presented annually to only one scholar in recognition of outstanding research excellence and academic dedication that significantly expands the horizons of cultural and historical geography and enhances the scholarly capacity and standing of the Society. From 2022 to 2024, a total of 23 scholars received the honor, and in 2025, Dr. Paek achieved the distinction of being selected as the award recipient.
