By examining not only excavated textual materials but also archaeological evidence from tombs, this study explores the Nanyue region, located along the empire’s southern frontier. Through this approach, we gain access to the latest excavated materials from the Chinese mainland while also investigating the dynamic interactions between the empire and its localities.
