Introduction to Prakrit Studies & Rāyapasenīya
- Date: October 24th, Friday, 2025, 14:00 – 17:00
- Location: Room 304, SNUAC (Bldg. 101)
In 2025, the Center for South Asian Studies at SNUAC will host its first workshop dedicated to advancing the study and exchange of Indian literature and languages. This workshop aims to explore the necessity and significance of research on Middle Indo-Aryan languages (Prakrit) and to expand the academic foundation of the field through close readings of original texts. It marks the first step toward broadening the scope of Indian philosophy studies in Korea—which have so far focused primarily on Sanskrit classics—and opening up new possibilities for research.
The workshop will be conducted in English by Professor Fujinaga Shin, President of the Japan Association for Jaina Studies, and is open to all those interested in Indian philosophy and Indology.
