- Date: August 25th, Monday, 2025, 15:00 – 16:30
- Location: Samick Hall (Room 220), SNUAC (Bldg. 101)
Presenter: Yong-Chool Ha (University of Washington)
Instead of limiting the interpretation of the Soviet Union’s dissolution to external and political factors alone, this lecture defines Soviet-style industrialization as a socialist form of “late industrialization” and analyzes its developmental trajectory in depth. Through this approach, it sheds light on how the unique institutional structures formed during the industrialization process, along with their inherent limitations, weakened the sustainability of the state system and ultimately led to its collapse.
