[News] Director Suhong Chae Pays Courtesy Visit to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Korea
On February 4, 2025, Prof. Suhong Chae, Director of SNUAC, paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Korea. The meeting, which included a breakfast gathering, was attended by Saeid Koozechi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Gi Yeon Koo, HK Research Professor at the West Asia Center, Esmaeil Pasandideh, Deputy Counselor of the Iranian Embassy, and So-yeon Ahn, Co-Researcher at the West Asia Center.
Ambassador Saeid Koozechi proposed measures to enhance academic exchanges between Iran and South Korea. Prof. Chae emphasized that SNUAC aims to introduce Asian issues to Korean society without bias and facilitate academic exchanges from an Asian perspective. He also underscored the importance of fostering in-depth academic discussions to build more constructive relationships concerning West Asia and Middle Eastern issues, which are often misunderstood in Korean society.
Prof. Koo highlighted the need for more active academic and diplomatic exchanges with Iran. Prof. Chae and Ambassador Saeid Koozechi discussed ways to expand academic exchanges and strengthen networks between the two countries in the future.
