An accurate and detailed reading of classical Sanskrit texts is an essential preliminary task in Indian studies. In collaboration with the SNUAC, the Society for the Study of Indian and Tibetan Classics, which has been consistently organizing workshops on Indian textual studies, brings together emerging scholars from Korea and Japan.
During this two-day workshop, participants will engage in focused academic presentations, textual readings, and discussions. The morning sessions will feature presentations by eight scholars, while the afternoon sessions will be led by Professor Kei Kataoka from Kyushu University’s Department of Philosophy, who will guide an intensive reading of texts on Buddhist epistemology and logic.
Although the number of researchers in Indology and Indian Buddhist philosophy remains small in both Korea and Japan, this workshop, jointly hosted by multiple institutions, provides a valuable opportunity for emerging scholars to connect and collaborate in an academic exchange. It is expected to be a meaningful event for the advancement of the field.
