[News] SNUAC Holds the Opening Ceremony for the “Global Future Strategy Executive Program in Vietnam” in Hanoi

Seoul National University Asia Center and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, jointly hosted the opening ceremony for the “Global Future Strategy Executive Program in Vietnam” on Friday, September 6th, in Hanoi.

This event marks the culmination of eight years of efforts to establish an international open lecture program. SNUAC first began working on launching an open lecture series in Vietnam in 2016. It was only this year, however, when the university administration began actively considering the idea of hosting an overseas open lecture program, that the Vietnam executive program finally came to fruition.

The driving forces behind this success were the support from the Korean expat community and companies operating in Vietnam. Thanks to their backing, the program exceeded its initial target of 45 participants, successfully enrolling 55 students. The roster of participants is impressive, featuring prominent figures from the Korean community in Hanoi, some of whom have been running businesses for nearly 30 years, as well as key management personnel from major corporations and vendors operating in the city.

During the opening ceremony, Professor Suhong Chae, Director of SNUAC, remarked, “This open lecture series is designed to help our businesspeople understand Vietnam not merely as a business site but as a partner in growth, and we have structured the courses to reflect that. We have also prepared content that revisits the geopolitical and technological factors underlying changes in the global environment.”

As Professor Chae indicated, the program offers a multidisciplinary perspective on Vietnam, which has risen as a critical hub for global supply chain restructuring in the wake of U.S.-China competition. It also aims to prepare participants for future shifts in the corporate environment. The course consists of 15 lectures across four key areas. A total of 16 lecturers are involved, including nine professors from Seoul National University, four external experts from various fields, and three top Vietnamese professors specializing in politics, economics, and history.

Hoàng Anh Tuan, President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, which co-launched the program with SNUAC, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We are delighted to offer Korean business leaders in Vietnam an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the country and enhance their business capabilities through our collaboration with Seoul National University.” He also expressed hope that this program would “contribute to strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries.”

The Global Future Strategy Executive Program is expected to produce positive outcomes in various fields, including economic cooperation and cultural exchange between South Korea and Vietnam. Furthermore, it is anticipated to significantly contribute to SNUAC’s internationalization efforts and its mission of social engagement.
