SNUAC Northeast Asia Center participated as a panel at the Asian Leadership Conference 2024 (ALC 2024, 5.22-5.23), organized by The Chosun Ilbo, with the panel topic of “Evaluations and Prospect of the Biden Administration’s Policy toward Northeast Asia: Major Countries’ Perspectives.” The ALC is a top-level international event in Asia that has been held since 2005 with renowned global leaders and scholars such as former US president Barack Obama, founder of Alibaba Jack Ma Yun, and Harvard professor Niall Ferguson to discuss issues of contemporary society. This year, the conference was on “The Era of Hyper-Uncertainty: Innovative Leadership for the New Future.” The panel organized by NEAC (Director: Baek-Yung Kim) discussed the perspectives of Korea, China, Japan, North Korea, and the U.S. on the Biden administration’s policy on Northeast Asia especially the Korean peninsula and Taiwan, and prospected the future. Prof. Yong Ho Kim of SNUAC planned and moderated the panel, while NEAC’s Dr. Jeong Kyung Seo (Research Fellow) and Dr. Soon-Jich Hong (Visiting Research Fellow) as well as Dr. Scott A. Snyder who has been in charge of Korean studies in the program for US-Korea policy at the U.S. Council on Foreign Relations, Prof. Seungyoung Kim of Kansai Gaidai University, and Prof. Inhwi Park of Ewha Womans University participated in the panel. Though the panel was held early, a large turnout showed the public interest in this topic.
