Since 2024, the Program on Asia’s Intellectual Values has been hosting talks on the topic of “The awareness of diseases, medicine, and magic” while focusing on the Daoist values. The upcoming talk will include two presentations, one by David Hogue on how ancient Chinese people regard strange phenomena in nature, and another by Byung-Joon Kim that examines how they sought to escape or solve them. Though the two presentations deal with ancient history, their main content can be applied to modern times, and will offer valuable opportunities for us to understand the Daoist values of Asia.
