New Delhi: The Last Battleground of British Imperialism and Indian Nationalism

This presentation examines the background and the developmental process of the discussion of the capital transfer by the British colonial government from Calcutta (present-day Kolkata) to Delhi in 1911. Also, it will explore the political intention of the British colonial government innate in the selection of the capital, establishment of urban plans, and the selection process of the architectural style that was to be applied to the major buildings of the government, which were all hastily processed after the announcement of the capital transfer.
