The cities of Northeast Asia each have their history and characteristics in their countries and regions. To grasp the local characteristics of various major cities, it is required to take an in-depth investigative approach to diverse cases. To this end, the Northeast Asia Center at SNUAC is inviting experts of urban society and civil activist groups from Northeast Asia, the USA, and Europe to share cases of declining cities and urban revitalization programs. Following the large plan, this special colloquium invites experts Jong-ki Park (Dept. of Architecture, Soonchunhyang Univ.) and Yun-suk Lee (Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements) to hear about the cases of the USA and Germany and derive their implications to East Asian cities through discussion. As Northeast Asia Center continues its colloquia for various cities and countries, it plans to accumulate data through cases of declining and revitalized cities as the foundation for its research.
