In October 2023, in Taiwan’s Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica, <病魅：東亞視域下的醫療與鬼邪國際研討會> was held. At the conference, presentations discussed the characteristics and comparisons of early modern China, Japan, and Korea around the relationship between medicine and 鬼魅. This lecture invites two scholars who had presented their work at the conference to examine gouimae and medicine in Joseon Dynasty and the daily culture. We hope this opportunity of exploration to contribute to the deepening of comparative studies on the medicine and gouimae of China, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
