This book talk at CHS deals with Diasporic Hallyu: The Korean Wave in Korean Canadian Youth Culture (2022) by Kyong Yoon. The author studies young Korean Canadians and their participation in the Korean Wave culture in an ethnographic approach and examines the critical thinking of interaction between diasporic receivers and popular culture. This book views the Korean Wave not so much as the proliferation of national cultural products but as contemplation of diasporic cultural conventions and observes the trends of culture negotiated by young receivers who are relatively double-sided between two or more countries and cultural contexts.
