This book contains the journeys of seven people who sought and realized new times through ideas from abroad in the late 18th century to the mid-19th century in Joseon, a country that could not contact any other country other than China. All of these people were accused of being monsters promoting evil studies and ended up being killed by their families or beheaded as traitors. The author sought to show their unyielding hope and passion to today’s readers standing at the point of Asian cultural traditions and Western values being combined, especially at a time when illumination is lost due to rigid thinking and structural paradoxes accumulate into a dysfunctional state.
