SNUAC Center for Asian Urban Societies (CAUS) is holding a colloquium on May 14th (Fri) on “Platforms and Affect”. The colloquium will be held online for those who registered beforehand.
Plaform capitalism, platform urbanism… There is a heightened interest in platforms as a modifier to interpret contemporary capitalism and urban space. This heightened interest forms a ‘bubble’ rather than academic accuracy in urban discourses. This colloquium seeks to get rid of the bubble on platforms from the perspective of critical cultural studies and space studies and explore how we can diagnose the present with platforms as the medium and seek alternatives for the future.
Presentation 1: The Dominant Appearance and Value of Platform Logic (Prof. Kwang-Suk Lee, Seoul National University of Science and Technology)
Presentation 2: Affective Platform Urbanism and the Use of Shared Personal Mobility (Prof. Minkyung Koh, Kyungpook National University)
Discussion: Dr. Joohyun Lee (SNUAC Visiting Research Fellow)
Moderator: Dr. Jin-Tae Hwang (SNUAC Research Fellow)
