The Hallyu sensation that started in 1997 with Korean TV drama in China has expanded in all directions such as K-Pop, beauty, fashion, food, game, and so on through Japan, Southeast Asia, and Middle and South America. Some dismissed it as a temporary phenomenon at the beginning of the trend, but now Hallyu is fully recognized as part of global popular culture.  This colloquium will examine the overall developmental process of Hallyu as it rapidly spreads throughout the world and present plans and practices of convergence in major areas for sustained growth of Hallyu.
