Transformations and Futures in Asia

The world is confronting uncertainty and transforming every aspect of our lives for which we are ill prepared. Economies, politics, culture, education, social and everyday life are being challenged while pointing us towards emerging and unknown futures. Leading this transformation is Asia with its resilience and dynamism, and ability to respond in a way that respects the past, sees the opportunities of the present, while having long-term visions. This is shifting the focus of global attention away from Europe and America in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries respectively.

This monthly online seminar series proposes to look at the role of Asia, its past and present and vision of possible futures, in creating the twenty-first century. The following SNU affiliated speakers will present an introduction of approximately 30-40 minutes to a relevant topic in their area of specialization as a catalyst for discussion between disciplines. Taken together, this seminar series will be of interest to scholars working on Asia’s traditions and their role in the transformations of this century.

In order to market this series, it would be great if the Asia Center is responsible for sending out mass e-mails. Also, we hope that the members of the specific in-house clusters such as the Northeast Asia Center and Southeast Asia Center will frequently attend and help to market this series.
