Center for Asian Urban Societies is to hold the eleventh colloquium dealing with various cases of international development.

In this colloquium, we examine a critical approach to existing international cooperative development and cases based on various theoretical perspectives on international development.

We thereby introduce the discourse of developmentalism in the East Asian context, diverse discourses of developmentalism in South East Asia and Africa, as well as a new theoretical frame for international development.

On Wednesday, August 21st, Center for Asian Urban Societies held a colloquium with Dr. Farwa Sial, who is carrying out research on international development at Manchester University, UK.

Dr. Sial explained the theoretical perspective on existing international cooperation and development assistance, then discussed a critical approach and the changed perspective on international development. She also introduced various cases of development assistance given to Africa and Asia, and carried out a discussion with the participants on development assistance and its reverse side.
