This colloquium attempts to explain the background where maritime conflicts and competition for hegemony were caused in East Asia, including the Eastern/Southern China Sea and the types of maritime conflicts. At the end of the colloquium, the significance regarding the security of the region that can be derived from the maritime conflicts and competition for hegemony will be analyzed and tasks for prospects for future and regional stability will be discussed.
