SNUAC and Korea Suul Institute(KSI) co-hosted the 2018 International Sool Conference on November 23 to 24 at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, SNU. This event was the first international conference on Sool in Korea and its main theme was ‘Rice Farming Culture and Alcoholic Rice Beverage Industry: A New Framework and Plans for the Future.’ Twelve experts from eight nations participated at this event and presentations on rice farming and alcoholic beverage, alcoholic rice beverage industry in Asia, and the prospect of alcoholic rice beverage were successfully organized. SNUAC has co-hosted this event with the goal to reconceptualize Korean traditional knowledge within a contemporary context and to comparatively analyze it with other regions’ reconceptualization of their traditional knowledge.
