Professor Hiroshi Todoroki from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University who is currently a visiting scholar at SNUAC presented on the “Restoration of Ancient Land Transportation Through Historical Geographical Method” at the fourth seminar in the 2018 Fall Asia Square Brown Bag Seminar Series. The old roads of Silla post Na-Tang War and their features and construction methods were examined in this seminar. Furthermore, methodological issues on the process of old road restoration as well as the limitations and prospects of old roads restoration were examined. Lastly, the similarities and differences between the ancient Japanese roads and modern Korean roads were explored through examining recent road systems in Korea and Japan.
