The era of Park Jung-Hee, hailed as the fetters in modern Korean history, is explained as a process of ruling by ‘authoritarian capitalism’ and it is analyzed in a comparative development perspective by examining four Latin American countries sharing similar historical experience in the book Park Jung-Hee’s Development Dictatorship in a Comparative Perspective: Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile in Latin America, and South Korea in Asia. The book was funded by the 2017 SNUAC Research Grants for Asian Studies.
