Youth Mobility and Socio-Spatial Transformations in South Korea and Japan

- Date: January 23rd, Friday, 2026, 13:30 – 17:30
- Location: GL Room, GSIS, SNU
This academic conference is part of the Northeast Asia Youth Mobility Research Project and aims to comparatively analyze how the mobility of Korean and Japanese youth intersects with and is shaped by transformations in social and spatial structures. By examining various dimensions of youth mobility—such as population movements, regional depopulation, cultural mobility, and career choices—through empirical research, the conference seeks to shed light on the multifaceted impacts of youth mobility on local communities and spatial orders. In doing so, it provides a venue for scholarly exchange that can generate theoretical expansions and policy implications for youth mobility studies within the Northeast Asian context.
