  • Date: April 11th, Saturday, 2020 14:00-16:00
  • This event will be live-streamed via the YouTube channel <칼라TV> for the purpose of social distancing.

On April 11th, Saturday at 2 pm, the forum for Gyeongui Line Commons Movement <Re:born> will be held. Gyeongui Line Commons Movement has been imagining and experimenting with the commons in the city for 4 years and has experienced limitations and regrets. This forum will invite Prof. Kyesoo Yi (Konkuk Univ.) for his lecture on “Gyeongui Line Commons from the Perspective of a Legal Scholar”. We hope to share the connection and experience of the commons and open up the possibilities to start anew, with all those who would participate online/offline.

On Saturday, April 11th, the first event for Gyeongui Line Commons Movement <Re:born> took place. This forum, planned as part of the blue paper and white paper on Gyeongui Line Commons being prepared by CAUS, was proceeded with a talk between Prof. Kyesoo Yi (Konkuk Univ. Law School) and Seoungwon Lee (Research Fellow, CAUS).

Prof. Yi offered the implications of the Gyeongui Line Commons Movement from the perspective of a legal scholar, examined the legal, institutional issues in the matter of modern property possession in Korea and discussed the matter of property possession in Germany where the constitutional basis is the same as that of Korea’s. Through this forum, participants discussed the implications of the Gyeongui Line Commons Movement and the legal and institutional possibilities of future alternative commons movements in Korea.
