HK 메가아시아 연구사업단은 스탠포드 학술팀과 공동으로 국제학술행사를 주최해 탈냉전기 아시아의 역사에 관해 연구하고자 한다. 탈냉전기 아시아에서 발생한 폭력현상, 이주를 중심으로 탈냉전기 아시아의 역사를 조망하며 메가아시아의 역사에 대해 연구한다.

<탈냉전기 아시아의 역사>

<행사 목적>

서울대학교 아시아연구소 HK+메가아시아연구사업단과 스탠초드 대학교가 공동주최한 국제학술회의를 위해 2022년 7월 7일 서울대학교 아시아연구소 2층 영원홀과 온라인 Zoom에서 탈냉전기 아시아의 역사에 관해 발표를 진행하고 토론을 하는 시간을 가졌다. 본 행사는 오전 9시에서 오후 4시 30분까지 총 3부에 걸쳐 진행되었으며, 탈냉전기 아시아에서 발생한 폭력과 이주를 중심으로 1부에서는 중국, 한국, 베트남, 2부에서는 아프가니스탄, 파키스탄, 3부에서는 탈냉전기 아시아의 역사를 조망하며 메가아시아의 역사를 살펴보는 시간을 가졌다.

<행사 리뷰>

가장 처음으로 컬럼비아대학교 Dominic Meng-Hsuan Yang 교수는 ‘People’s Turn toward Benevolence: Cold War, Anti-Communist Propaganda, and the Resettlement of Dachen Refugees from Coastal Zhejiang to Taiwan’이라는 주제로 발표했다. 스탠포드대학교 문유미 교수는 ‘Correspondence from the Soviet Zone: Northern Refugees and the Rise of Cold War Nationalism in South Korea, 1945-1949’라는 주제로 발표했다. 세인트보니페이스대학교의 Phi-Vân Nguyen 교수는 ‘Vietnam’s 1954 Partition and Displacement in Perspective‘라는 주제로 발표했다. 이에 대해 저장대학교 주송하 교수와 서울대학교 아시아연구소 윤대영 교수가 토론을 진행했다.

다음으로 스탠포드대학교 Robert D. Crews 교수는 ‘The Refugee as Political Actor: The Making of Afghan Migrants, Revolutionaries, and Citizens’를 주제로 발표했다. 로드아일랜드 스쿨 오브 디자인의 Ijlal Muzaffar 교수는 ‘Encroaching Flows: Rethinking Karachi and the Cold War’를 주제로 발표했다. 이에 대해 아산정책연구원 장지향 선임연구위원이 토론을 진행했다.

마지막으로 스탠포드대학교 Robert D.
