시민사회프로그램은 지난 3월 26일~29일까지 3박 4일 일정으로 일본 도시샤대와 공동 워크숍과 현지조사를 진행하였다. 지난 2021년부터 도시샤대학교 사회혁신연구팀과 공동으로 ‘시민사회, 사회혁신, 그리고 지역공동체’를 주제로 온/오프라인 워크숍을 정기적으로 진행하였다. 시민사회프로그램의 공석기 연구원과 도시샤대학교의 니이카와 교수가 각각 연구책임자로 관련 전문가들과 함께 연구방법론, 사례연구 그리고 현지조사를 진행하였다. 특별히 2023년 봄부터 매년 상호 지역 방문 및 사례 조사를 함께 진행하고 있다. 올해는 목포와 광주의 지역혁신 사례와 시민사회 활동가를 만나는 뜻깊은 시간이었다. 특히 목포의 청년 사회적기업 ‘괜찮아마을’의 도움으로 지역에서의 다양한 혁신 사례-포도책방, 만인계, 1897건맥펍-를 방문하고 간담회를 가짐으로써 연구자에게 매우 유익한 정보와 아이디어를 얻는 시간이었다. 광주 전일빌딩에 위치한 광주시민사회센터와 5.18 국립묘지 그리고 양림동 예술문화 마을을 방문하였다. 이처럼 4일간의 워크숍과 현지 방문조사를 통해서 풍성한 상호토론 및 공동연구 주제를 발굴하는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌다. 워크숍 발표 제목을 소개하면 아래와 같다.

워크숍을 마친 후에 연구진은 2년여 워크숍 발표 논문을 2026년초에 영문 단행본으로 발간하며, 3월 초에 일본 오키나와에서 현지조사 및 워크숍을 갖기로 결정하였다.
