“행성적 도시화와 도시정치생태학”
본 세미나는 최근에 주목받고 있는 도시연구담론인 행성적 도시화(planetary urbanization)와 도시정치생태학(urban political ecology)의 연구 현황을 살펴보고, 관련 분야의 연구자들에게 현재의 한국적/동아시아적 도시현상을 이해하는데 있어서 두 논의가 유용한지에 관한 토론의 장을 제공하고자 기획되었습니다. 도시와 촌락의 이분법적 경계를 교란하는 인식론을 바탕으로 다층적인 스케일 상에서 관계적으로 형성되는 여러 ‘도시적 현상(the urban phenomenon)’을 이해하려는 행성적 도시화 논의와 도시화를 사회적 전환(social transformation)으로 볼 것이 아니라 사회자연적 과정(socionatural process)으로 바라보면서 도시를 사회와 자연 간의 상호작용 속에 위치시키는 도시정치생태학 논의는 최근의 인류세(Anthropocene), 기후변화, 지속가능한 도시, 전환도시 등의 다양한 도시위기와 대안적 실천담론들을 모색하는데 이론적, 실천적 함의를 제공할 것으로 예상됩니다. 세미나 방식은 각 논문에 대한 준비된 발제자가 발제문을 발표하고, 이후 자유토론 방식이며, 발제자는 미리 정했으므로, 참여자들은 읽을거리를 충분히 읽고서 토론에 적극적으로 참여하는 것을 장려합니다.
