A former editor of the Journal of Southeast Asian Studies, he is a Regional Editor for the International Journal of Asian Studies (Cambridge University Press for the University of Tokyo), and serves on Editorial Advisory Boards for the Journal of the Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society, TRaNS: Trans-Regional and \u2013 National Studies of Southeast Asia (Sogang University, Seoul), and Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS, Kyoto University). His book The Japanese Occupation of Malaya, 1941-1945 was published jointly by C.
