As our world becomes increasingly interconnected and opportunities for communication among people of diverse cultures and histories expand, this series seeks to discover ways of understanding Asia anew\u2014through classic texts introduced by leading experts from each region.<br data-start=\"739\" data-end=\"742\" \/>This edition of the Dungsil Dungsil\u00a0AsIA Cultural Festival offers a preview of selected lectures on the masterpieces of West Asia.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"882\" data-end=\"1307\"><strong data-start=\"882\" data-end=\"898\">Jeong-ah\u00a0<\/strong><strong data-start=\"882\" data-end=\"898\">Kim<\/strong>: Currently teaching in the Department of Arabic and the Graduate School of Interpretation and Translation at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. Her main research fields are medieval Arabic prose and diaspora literature. She has consistently introduced the world of Arabic literature to Korean readers through her Korean translations of works such as <em data-start=\"1252\" data-end=\"1263\">The Miser<\/em>, <em data-start=\"1265\" data-end=\"1284\">Maps of the Night<\/em>, and <em data-start=\"1290\" data-end=\"1306\">The Muqaddimah<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1309\" data-end=\"1714\"><strong data-start=\"1309\" data-end=\"1323\">Saera\u00a0<\/strong><strong data-start=\"1309\" data-end=\"1323\">Gwak<\/strong>: Author of <em data-start=\"1335\" data-end=\"1352\">Persian Grammar<\/em>, <em data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1384\">Standard Textbook of Persian<\/em>, and <em data-start=\"1390\" data-end=\"1457\">A Dictionary of Persian Idioms for Translation and Interpretation<\/em>, she has established a systematic foundation for Persian language education. Her research on topics such as \u201cPolysemy in Persian\u201d and \u201cA Cognitive-Linguistic Analysis of Cultural Vocabulary\u201d explores the intricate relationship between language and culture.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1716\" data-end=\"2131\"><strong data-start=\"1716\" data-end=\"1729\">Nan-A Lee<\/strong>: Author of <em data-start=\"1741\" data-end=\"1775\">Understanding Turkish Literature<\/em>, <em data-start=\"1777\" data-end=\"1822\">Orhan Pamuk: From the Margins to the Center<\/em>, and <em data-start=\"1828\" data-end=\"1864\">Orhan Pamuk and His Literary World<\/em>. She has translated more than sixty Turkish literary works into Korean, including <em data-start=\"1947\" data-end=\"1963\">My Name Is Red<\/em>, and has also translated Korean works such as Kim Young-ha\u2019s <em data-start=\"2025\" data-end=\"2061\" data-is-only-node=\"\">I Have the Right to Destroy Myself<\/em> into Turkish, contributing to the globalization of Korean literature.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2133\" data-end=\"2971\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><strong data-start=\"2133\" data-end=\"2150\">Neung-woo\u00a0<\/strong><strong data-start=\"2133\" data-end=\"2150\">Kim\u00a0<\/strong>: Has taught Arabic language and culture at various universities, including Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Chung-Ang University, and Hansung University, nurturing the next generation of scholars. As a member of the Ministry of Education\u2019s Arabic Curriculum Committee, he helped establish the foundation for Arabic education in Korea and co-authored Arabic textbooks for both foreign language and general high schools. He is an active member of major academic societies such as the Korean Association of Middle Eastern Studies, the Korean Association of Islamic Studies, and the Korean Association of Arabic Language and Literature.
