This workshop aims to explore the necessity and significance of research on Middle Indo-Aryan languages (Prakrit) and to expand the academic foundation of the field through close readings of original texts. It marks the first step toward broadening the scope of Indian philosophy studies in Korea\u2014which have so far focused primarily on Sanskrit classics\u2014and opening up new possibilities for research.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"593\" data-end=\"793\">The workshop will be conducted in English by Professor Fujinaga Shin, President of the Japan Association for Jaina Studies, and is open to all those interested in Indian philosophy and Indology.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p data-start=\"795\" data-end=\"1021\"><strong data-start=\"795\" data-end=\"830\">Workshop 1 (Friday, October 24)<\/strong><br data-start=\"830\" data-end=\"833\" \/><strong data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"883\">Introduction to Prakrit Studies &amp; R\u0101yapasen\u012bya<\/strong><br data-start=\"883\" data-end=\"886\" \/>An overview of the current state and necessity of Prakrit studies, followed by a collective reading of the Jaina text <em data-start=\"1004\" data-end=\"1018\">R\u0101yapasen\u012bya<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1023\" data-end=\"1302\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><strong data-start=\"1023\" data-end=\"1058\">Workshop 2 (Sunday, October 26)<\/strong><br data-start=\"1058\" data-end=\"1061\" \/><strong data-start=\"1061\" data-end=\"1126\">Tools for Prakrit Studies &amp; Vyavah\u0101ras\u016btra, Bh\u0101\u1e63ya, and V\u1e5btti<\/strong><br data-start=\"1126\" data-end=\"1129\" \/>An introduction to essential tools and methodologies for Prakrit text research, accompanied by a reading of the <em data-start=\"1241\" data-end=\"1257\">Vyavah\u0101ras\u016btra<\/em> and its commentaries (<em data-start=\"1280\" data-end=\"1288\">bh\u0101\u1e63ya<\/em> and <em data-start=\"1293\" data-end=\"1300\">v\u1e5btti<\/em>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Date:\u00a0October 26th, Sunday, 2025, 14:00 &#8211; 17:00 Location: Room 303, SNUAC (Bldg. 101) In 2025, the Center for South Asian Studies at SNUAC will host its first workshop dedicated to advancing the study and exchange of Indian literature and languages.
