The Northeast Asia Center at Seoul National University Asia Center, led by Director Baek-Yung Kim, hosted a security discussion on September 12 at 4 PM on the topic of “Security in the Indo-Pacific Region After the U.S. Presidential Election” with overseas scholars from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Germany.<\/p>\n

Participants included Thomas Yoshimura, Resident Representative in Korea at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation; Dewi Fortuna Anwar, a research professor at the Indonesian government’s National Research and Innovation Agency; Kuik Cheng-Chwee, a professor of International Relations at the University of Malaysia; Stephen Nagy, a fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute; Veerle Nouwens, Executive Director of the Shangri-La Dialogue; Jonathan Nowak, Desk Officer for the North Atlantic region at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation; Tsuneo Nabe Watanabe, senior fellow of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation; Sangah Yoon, coordinator of the security team at the foundation; and Sarah Fahrenkrug, a participant in the foundation\u2019s North Korea project.<\/p>\n

From The Northeast Asia Center, attendees included Professor Baek-Young Kim\u00a0(Director of the Northeast Asia Center), Dr. Jong-Cheol Kim\u00a0(Research Fellow at SNUAC), Dr. Jeong-Kyung Seo (Research Fellow at the Northeast Asia Center), Professor Jeong-Hwan Lee (Department of Diplomacy, Seoul National University), Professor Ji-Woon Baek\u00a0(Seoul National University Institute for Unification and Peace), Professor Jong-Seok Yoon\u00a0(Director of the University of Seoul Center for Contemporary China Studies), and Dr. Ran Kim (Visiting Researcher at the Northeast Asia Center).<\/p>\n

Both sides engaged in extensive discussions on various mutual interests, including security issues in the Indo-Pacific region following the U.S. presidential election. They also agreed to actively promote collaborative projects in the future.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
