South Korea has been\u00a0widely praised<\/a>\u00a0for its management of the outbreak and spread of the coronavirus disease COVID-19. The focus has largely been on South Korea\u2019s\u00a0enormous virus testing programme<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What hasn\u2019t been so widely reported is the country\u2019s heavy use of surveillance technology, notably CCTV and the tracking of bank card and mobile phone usage, to identify who to test in the first place.
