\/>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<hr \/>\n<p>On February 14th, Center for Asian Urban Societies held a colloquium to examine the possibility of reinterpreting the East Asian context in the planetary urbanization theory starting with Lefebvre and leading on to Neil Brenner and Schmid.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Chu, a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Geography at National Taiwan University and\u00a0Brian Scanlon, a Ph.D. student in the same department, presented their researches on the construction of mega-infrastructures in Taiwan and China, and the changes in the urban landscape and social contexts that resulted. In the discussion, Prof. Bae-Gyoon Park noted the implications and limits of planetary urbanization theory and Lefevbre&#8217;s theory, suggesting a possibility for a new approach to urban sociology.
