How were territories formed in the past and what was the role of channels of movement in their formation? What was the nature of civilization exchange that took place against the background of such channels and territories in the past? What implications do such instances of civilization exchange have for the present? This international symposium was held to explore the above questions by bringing together scholars from Korea, China, Japan, and Russia whose areas of research include historical geography, natural geography, archaeology, history, international relations, and data science.
