In addition to accumulating outstanding research results, SNUAC also hosts various lectures, workshops, conferences, and academic events.As such, SNUAC created a club for Asian students under the name, \u201cFriends of Asia (FoA)\u201d and has been actively supporting its activities. Hence, SNUAC is inviting students to participate in Friends of Asia as it provides opportunities for research and training for students interested in Asia.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Eligibility<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Seoul National University students (undergraduate, graduate, on leave, research students) who are from Asia<br \/>\n<strong>(<\/strong><strong>\u203b<\/strong><strong> Non-Asian students can also apply)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Duration<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Starts from April 2019<\/li>\n<li>Members should participate for <u>at least one semester<\/u> (those who wish to participate for more than one semester are welcome)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Activities<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Research on Asian Regional Issues (Issue Paper)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct research on Asia-related issues and\/or the region (some topics include but are not limited to: political\/economic\/social issues, culture, and environment)<\/li>\n<li>Submit an issue paper on any Asia-related issue or an Asian country <u>once in 3 months<\/u> (excellent works will be published in the SNUAC Newsletter)<\/li>\n<li>Budget provided<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Seminar<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><u>FoA Seminar<\/u>: once a month (Tuesday 7PM-8PM, dinner provided)<\/li>\n<li>Reporting of 1) each group\u2019s progress on the issue paper and 2) updates on the group\u2019s issues and countries (10-minute presentation, 5-minute Q&amp;A)<\/li>\n<li><u>Group Seminar<\/u>: twice a month (budget provided, specific method to be discussed with the group members)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Field Trips and Cultural Exchange<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Two field trips scheduled for the semester<\/li>\n<li>The location is subject to change depending on the topics and countries chosen by the members<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Participate in \u201cIntroduction to Asian Studies\u201d Lectures (optional) <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>A total of 12 seminars are scheduled every Friday from 2PM-3:30PM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>FoA Members\u2019 Benefits<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Financial support in field trips and issue papers<\/li>\n<li>Participate in workshops and programs hosted by SNUAC<\/li>\n<li>Networking<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>On &amp; offline networking<\/li>\n<li>Study groups on any topics regarding Asia<\/li>\n<li>Mentoring opportunities between experts-current and previous members<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Incentive Regulation<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Members who participate more than 80% of the FA and group seminars will be given the following incentives in: 1) the workshops hosted by SNUAC, 2) the programs hosted by SNUAC, 3) awarded a certificate of completion, and will be given 4) an opportunity to be published in the SNUAC Newsletter.<br \/>\n(<strong>\u203b<\/strong> <strong>Must participate more than 5 times out of the total 8 seminars + at least once in the 2 field trips planned + must compose one issue paper.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Recruitment Schedule<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><u>Online Application<\/u>: March 13, 2019 (Wed) ~ April 10, 2019 (Wed) 11:59PM<\/li>\n<li><u>Application Method<\/u>: Fill out the attached application file and send it to <a href=\"mailto:2018friendsofasia@gmail.com\">2018friendsofasia@gmail.com<\/a> (File Name: Name_Application)<\/li>\n<li><u>Results<\/u>: Mid April, individually contacted<\/li>\n<li><u>Orientation<\/u>: TBA (scheduled mid-April)<\/li>\n<li><u>Inquiries<\/u>: <a href=\"mailto:2018friendsofasia@gmail.com\">2018friendsofasia@gmail.com<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=&#8221;FoA Application Form(Spring 2019)&#8221; color=&#8221;danger&#8221; link=&#8221;url:http%3A%2F%2Fsnuac.snu.ac.kr%2Feng%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2019%2F03%2Ffoa-4_applicationeng.docx||target:%20_blank|&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Objective Seoul National University Asia Center (SNUAC) is a research institute located within Seoul National University which conducts academic and cultural exchanges between Korea and Asian countries.
