This event was chaired by Dr. Suk-Ki Kong (senior researcher, SNUAC) and the discussant was Professor Moon-Gi Suh from the Department of Information Sociology at Soongsil University.<\/p>\n<p>Emeritus Professor Hyun-Chin Lim began the talk by addressing his aspiration for the book to serve as a basis for future scholars studying sociology on the development and introduced development theory. The book\u2019s examination on the capitalisms in Asia, Asia\u2019s central role in the global mobile telecom industry and the resulting transformation and integration of national economies, and the establishment of the mobile industry in global value chains was explained. Emeritus Professor Hyun-Chin Lim then emphasized the importance of comparative research examining various East Asian nations including Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan and discussed on the similarities and differences between these nations regarding the integration of global and regional value chains.
