{"id":7614,"date":"2016-09-12T14:51:38","date_gmt":"2016-09-12T14:51:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/snuac.snu.ac.kr\/center_eng\/?page_id=7614"},"modified":"2024-09-30T07:48:46","modified_gmt":"2024-09-30T07:48:46","slug":"student-club","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/snuac.snu.ac.kr\/eng\/index.php\/network\/student-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Clubs"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\">[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<strong>Supporting Student Clubs<\/strong><br \/>\nAn important part of SNUAC\u2019s efforts to nurture next-generation\u00a0specialists in Asia is the consistent support for two student clubs\u00a0engaging in activities related to Asian culture and regional issues.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Southeast Asian Study Group Grant: Fosters researchers preparing theses on Southeast Asia and constructs a network of researchers by calling for a study group of students interested in the region twice a year<\/li>\n<li>Supports research exchanges of KYMR, a group of rising Korea scholars studying MENA regions, and fosters next-generation scholars by supporting university student clubs studying West Asian regions<\/li>\n<li>Supports Eurasia Research Group, a student club for Central Asian and Eurasian studies, to foster academic future generations and form networks<\/li>\n<li>SNU Africa Studies: Encourages vibrant academic exchange among scholars studying African regions through sharing, presenting and discussing the latest research trends and news in Africa with the aim of contributing to the development of future generations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_text_separator title=&#8221;Amigo&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>\u201cAmigo,\u201d A Club for Students Who Care about Asia\u2019s Future<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmigo\u201d is an abbreviation of a Korean phrase meaning \u201ca gathering\u00a0of those who care about the future of Asia.\u201d The club is a reading group where members select, read, and discuss books on Asia-related topics.\u00a0In addition to conducting weekly reading seminars, members organize\u00a0book talks where they invite authors to discuss their books.<\/p>\n<p>For 2017, the club explored the topic on Islam and Southeast Asia in the first semester and investigated China\u2019s policy for ethnic minorities and their culture in the second semester.<\/p>\n<p>Please inquire about the SNUAC student clubs at\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:snuac_pr@snu.ac.kr\">snuac_pr@snu.ac.kr<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_text_separator title=&#8221;FICS&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;8312&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>Foundation of Intercultural Cooperation \u2018FICS\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FICS (The Foundation of Intercultural Cooperation by Students) is a\u00a0social research and exchange club with the mission of \u201cSharing Ideas\u00a0and Reaching a New Realization.\u201d A club of the same name operates\u00a0in the Univ. of Tokyo, and the two clubs closely interact. During the\u00a0semester, each club pursues research individually, and every August,\u00a0all members spend a week in Seoul and a week in Tokyo to discuss\u00a0the problems of Korean and Japanese societies and possible solutions\u00a0based on their research findings.<\/p>\n<p>To prepare for the 2017 session with students from Univ. of Tokyo, the FICS members visited the National Assembly, Changdeokgung Palace, and other places in Seoul and led discussions on topics of North Korean nuclear issue, gender equality, and regional dialect.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Supporting Student Clubs An important part of SNUAC\u2019s efforts to nurture next-generation\u00a0specialists in Asia is the consistent support for two student clubs\u00a0engaging in activities related to Asian culture and regional issues.
