Dr. Young Rae defines herself as a human-environmental geographer with interests in the field of marine and coastal governance and East Asian studies. Using political ecology, critical political economy, and environmental anthropology, her research interrogates the complexity and interwovenness of development-conservation relations, with a focus on large-scale coastal development in East Asia. Her current projects include the modern history of coastal land reclamation in East Asia, sustainability controversies around eco-cities built on reclaimed land, and neoliberal fisheries and fishing communities proliferating in the era of \u201cgreen growth.\u201d She is currently working on a book project, tentatively titled <\/span>The Yellow Sea: A Window Onto the Anthropocene<\/span><\/i>.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_text_separator title=”SELECTED PUBLICATIONS” title_align=”separator_align_left” border=”no”][vc_column_text]Forthcoming.
