On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Michel Hockx, Director of the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies at the University of Notre Dame (U.S.), and Catherine Leung, Director of the Notre Dame Global Hong Kong Office, visited the Seoul National University Asia Center. During the visit, Professor Hockx, a specialist in Chinese studies, introduced the university’s Asia-related academic programs and the major research areas of the Liu Institute. He also shared future research plans aimed at advancing Korean studies at Notre Dame. Both institutions recognized their shared research interests—particularly in the field of migration studies—and discussed concrete forms of collaboration, including joint academic events, researcher exchanges, and potential co-organized research projects.

On October 19, 2025, the Center for Eurasian and Central Asian Studies of the SNUAC and the Wolgok Koryoin Cultural Museum Gyeol (hereafter “the Museum”) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for research collaboration. The agreement aims to foster mutual cooperation in promoting understanding of the history and culture of Koryoin (ethnic Koreans in the former Soviet Union) migration and in carrying out related research and cultural projects.
