Professor Itaru Ohta from ASAFAS, Kyoto University Visits SNUAC


Professor Itaru Ohta from the Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies at Kyoto University came to SNUAC and discussed about the current status of area studies in Korea and Japan with Deputy Director Baegeui Hong on the 29th of October. Professor Itaru Ohta introduced Japan’s research on African studies as well as his African Potentials Project. Professor Itaru Ohta was the former director of Center for African Area Studies at Kyoto University and is an expert on African studies. He has conducted research on Kenya for over 40 years and is renowned for his research in the Japanese academia. Professor Itaru Ohta stated his plan to continue his research after retirement and explained his intention to expand his exchange activities with Korea through collaboration with SNUAC in the future.
